  • Is fake Wikileaks-forum.com website owner and admins Faking Facebook ‘Likes’ ?

    On the 7th of October 2013 a forum thread was posted at the wikileaks-forum.com website which you will find archived at the end of the post. It refers to a letter that had been e-mailed to Forum members (which content you will find here: http://wlcentral.org/node/2900 ) warning that this forum cannot be trusted as ‘The forum site owner lost the trust of WikiLeaks as he pursues his own agenda.’

    The Forum Post was shared around in various Inauthentic WikiLeaks Facebook pages controlled by Mark and ‘staff’.

    In the Inauthentic FoWL page, see here http://archive.is/6DSOC the post link had a heading  ‘Open Apology from FoWl Facebook Group to WikiLeaks Forum Members’ followed by a ‘letter’ claiming a group of rogue FoWL members had e-mailed to forum members the warning letter mentioned above. The Inauthentic FoWL Facebook Page then apologised to forum members.

    The post received 309 likes which is a remarkable number considering that the total likes for the page is 2,986

    One has to wonder how such high number of Likes have been so quickly accumulated on this particular post.

    If one examines the postings on the page the last 6 months the maximum a post was liked was 21 times with most posts receiving from 1-10 likes.

    The forum twitter account tweeted the link to this Facebook Post and the WikiLeaks Twitter Account responded

    @wikileaks_forum This letter and facebook group are fabrications. The group is controlled by ‘Mark’ and has nothing to do with FoWL.

    This time the FB post was ‘Liked’ 153 times. This is again surprising. Despite the fact that the page has 33,971 Likes, most posted links normally receive less than 10 likes.

    During the same time I kept reading in Twitter that Facebook Pages can buy Likes to prop up a message or a brand and give it commercial significance or public opinion gravitas. The inconsistencies described above prompted me to investigate further the possibility that Mark and Forum admins managing the pages are buying post ‘Likes’.

    I analysed all 153 likes for this post and I found that :

    151 Facebook Accounts Names were from the Indian Subcontinent, only 2 were not.

    103 Facebook Accounts that had ‘Liked’ the post did not actually list the Wikileaks-forum page or any WikiLeaks related pages in their “Likes” List, which was publicly visible and accessible.

    44 Facebook Accounts that had ‘Liked’ the post did not have a publicly visible’Likes’ List.

    Only 6 Facebook Accounts included WikiLeaks related Pages in the ‘Likes’ List.

    The post was shared only twice.

    In Conclusion:

    The Facebook Post ‘Likes’ are fake.

    So are Mark and his helpers who control Fake WikiLeaks named Facebook pages, post a ‘Letter of Apology’ by a Fake FoWL group linking to a forum post and then they pump up its importance with Fake likes? What a fraud!

    One has to ask Why?

    What is the motivation for all this ?

  • The fake wikileaks-forum.com owner and admins bullying includes using UK police

    In the many question MArk s formed in my head about my time at the website wikileaks-forum.com, surely the roundest and boldest extends to the relationship and co-operation between Mark (at the time aged 50) and Siggi (at the time aged 19). I mention their ages because it was an indication that their relationship was unequal from the start.

    The latter was not someone I was acquainted with at the forum or outside. By the time I became a mod (31.10.2011) Siggi had already left. But, Mark kept saying things about him.

    Is Mark lying about Siggi?

    The first thing he told me in Autumn 2011 was that they set up the forum together. He also said the same thing about the shop. He said that Siggi had taken money from the shop’s account but WL refused to prosecute for financial embezzlement despite Mark’s encouragement to do so. He had repeatedly challenged them ‘why don’t you prosecute him?” He also said that despite his young age WL had given him a lot of responsibility at the forum. Under WL instruction Siggy had deleted an entire forum Board, the UFO/Paranoid rants board (for which he had a soft spot). He could never forgive Siggi and WL for “censoring the UFO/Paranoid posts”.

    Sometime later  he told me that WL had finally prosecuted Siggi for financial embezzlement. I could not help but detect a certain satisfaction on his part and he, in time, proceeded to re-instate a UFO/Paranoid Board. Considering what he was saying to me, I concluded that he could not have thought very highly of the young man. One minute he was presenting him to me as the WL forum representative.  Mark’s dealings with him gave the forum legitimacy, next thing he was not very respectful towards him.  In particular  he said Siggy had a hacking career in his country, Iceland, bringing forward a few examples that I thought at the time he had better have kept to himself. It was a betrayal to Siggi to be sharing such secrets with someone like me who he knew for only about 5 minutes. I have no idea whether any of Mark’s claims about Siggi were true. But I was left with the impression that there was a lot of tug of war between them.

    Is Mark lying about supporting WikiLeaks?

    I left the forum (Aug/Sep 2012) and in Nov 2012 I came across an interview by Siggi as part of a BBC Radio programme were he mentioned his forum name of Q. I nearly fell off my chair, what was he doing giving interviews?  By that time the forum had already comfortably established and documented their enstrangement from WikiLeaks/Julian Assange that had started in Summer 2012. Every anti-WikiLeaks platform had been invited on board, the Objectiviser, Wikiwatcher, several PGPBoard staff, DDB’s OpenLeaks. The Admins in-between the hundreds of articles about WikiLeaks that they harvested from google and submitted to the forum, they also posted threads, questioning and criticising every single WL/JA action, without exception. The only thing they loved was the ‘idea of WikiLeaks’ without WikiLeaks, presenting more and more themselves as the disillusioned supporters forever the ‘victims of attacks by WL cultists’ all fictional, abusing people in twitter, if one as much as expressed an opinion different to them. One could easily see that the forum, now empty of  any real support for WikiLeaks had been truly turned into a vehicle of hypocrisy. If they changed the name to wikiwatcher, they would be more truthful.

    What was the balance of power between Mark & Siggy at the Forum?

    Then in January 2013 a forum post was put up mentioning Siggi as a proof of WL’s involvement at the forum. Then on July 2013 a more extended version of the same post appeared again at the forum. During that Summer Siggi came out in the press with a series of articles about his role within WL and his role in co-operating with the FBI and passing them information about WL.     With all the above in mind and the sudden publicity Siggi brought upon himself, on the 5th of July I found myself discussing Mark & Siggy’s relationship with a couple of other people, sharing opinions. Finally I tweeted:

    Mark & Siggi…who schooled/fooled who we may find out when the financial embezzlement case is concluded 🙂

    Of course this alluded to the fact that a) there was an unequal relationship between them. One person, a mature man with three grown up children of his own, an internet media expert (SEO, article submission systems) a young person’s football coach and carer of disabled people. The other, a young man of 19 with lots of internet experience but hardly any life experience. In my communications with Mark he sometimes described Q as the one making the decisions (as WL representative) ie he was the boss (e.g. taking the UFO board down) but in other times he was described as simply someone not in control of himself or his life…hacking, thieving, in trouble with the law, and how on earth WL gave him such responsibility. So who called the shots, who was giving instructions, Mark or Siggy at the forum and  in their relationship. Who fooled the other? Was it the young hacker taking the UFO board down? or had Mark fooled Siggy and kicked him out of the forum? From my own experience I would say that Mark remained in control. From my own experience I would say that sometimes people make dramatic decisions to escape such control.

    I made a reference to the conclusion of the embezzlement case as a landmark when some of the details of their relationship might become public and therefore reveal its nature. I also half believed that Mark may become a witness in this case. In his narrative, he placed himself right in the middle of it as a reliable witness. He knew so much about it and told me he had set the shop together with Siggy and spoke with such confidence on the matter and had repeatedly challenged WL to prosecute according to his own assertions. But, none of it was known widely. I do not know if anything that I was told was true.

    The First Lie and its dissemination

    But my Tweet was seen by Mark and his team and with no time to lose at all the WLForum twitter account as well as all the known individual twitter accounts of the current admins at the forum (WLF staff they call themselves) were all  claiming that I had falsely accused Mark of Financial Embezzlement. The tweets were flying around like poisoned bullets dripping with the manufactured lie.

    On the 7th of July 2013 a lengthy post was placed by Z (Mark) in the forum http://archive.is/pXvE0 saying the same lie that I:

    ‘had publicly accused a Forum staff member of embezzlement, together with Sigudur Thordarsson’

    It also included several other screenshots of tweets I made, misrepresenting them, giving them always a certain twist to serve their narrative. This post was ‘Announced’ to all members. This means that a copy was e-mailed to over 15,000 individual e-mail addresses & went directly into their inbox for them to read without having to view them on the wikileaks-forum.com website.

    On the next day, the 8th of July 2013 a second post was again ‘announced’ by Z to all members: http://archive.is/7ijM3 stating amongst other:

    ‘On Monday 8th of July 2013, the accused staff member launched criminal proceedings against @greekemmy for defamation of character and slander with the London Metropolitan Police MPS Crime Recording and Investigation Bureau’

    The two forum posts were also put in the support-julian-assange.com blog by Soul Assassin, the blog’s owner (Mark), deleted now but kept for posterity in paper copy and now photo:

    These posts were also shared as links through all the inauthentic WikiLeaks related Facebook Pages  that he controls with the assistance of the Forum’s Admin staff, reaching over 180,000 Facebook NewsFeeds and they were shared several times and promoted there. I will save the screenshots for an update to this post.

    The second Lie

    But defamation is not a a criminal offence in the UK and as such it is not a matter that will be investigated by the UK police. Criminal defamation has been abolished in the UK since 12 January 2010  http://www.contactlaw.co.uk/criminal-defamation.html Defamation is a Civil matter where an individual raises a private lawsuit directly with the courts, that is to say the police is not involved. http://www.legalmatch.com/law-library/article/civil-tort-law.html

    So what has Mark actually done? how can he claim that ‘Criminal Proceedings launched against @greekemmy for defamation of Character’ with the MET when defamation is not a criminal offence and it is not a matter for the police. He claims to have sought legal advise on the matter. Hasn’t his solicitor told him this?

    Of course my own solicitor to whom I turned for independent and legal advise, having looked at this tweet and consulted the law suggested to me that it is neither defamatory nor a matter for the police. I also shown them Mark’s forum/ s-j-a posts, the forum’s tweets and all the Facebook posts in the WikiLeaks related pages he controls. I was advised that I may wish to take myself steps to protect my own reputation by raising a private lawsuit against him, or at least approach Twitter and Facebook with a complaint. I did neither at the time not wanting to spend my money and time in this manner.  I had quietly rebuffed the claims he was making and left it to that. I turned down  offers of help from true Twitter friends  (to whom I am for ever grateful for the moral support <3). I did not want the forum to attract more attention at a time close to the Australian election when Mark could just harvest it to spread more anti-WL messages. I believe my approach was correct at the time but it also emboldened him and his team of admins resulting on more cyber bullying. (I have analysed an example in another post).

    And here is a perfect example of how far Mark is prepared to go to manufacture and propagate a lie, making it a tool for intimidation, manipulation and bullying towards 1 single individual. He is even prepared to mock the law & waste police time. Let it be known that it is the same person who shaped my initial in jabber with heart emoticons. Oh he loved his staff so much when they slaved away submitting links to his SOE submission system…ie his forum and blog websites 🙂 Whose next on the list ?

  • Fake Wikileaks-forum.com owner dabbling in ‘WikiLeaks work’

    When I joined ‘The Official WikiLeaks Forum’ on 8th of March 2011 I did so to show my support to WL/JA. I also joined to experience something entirely new to me: an online community of people. The site promised to support a heroic organisation and members would be in a safe environment to express their support, to exchange views and learn about WL revelations about international political, diplomatic, news.  I saw the function of WikiLeaks as an exciting development in strengthening democracies around the world. In particular the Afghanistan and Iraq publications struck a cord that truth could bring our Western World back from the path of mindless war. At a more personal level, I had seen my country Greece collapse into bankruptcy losing its economic and therefore national sovereignty due to the mismanagement, corruption and lack of democratic transparency and public accountability. I hoped WikiLeaks’ idea of Transparency would help rejuvenate democracy in Greece. I also wished and hoped that WikiLeaks may at some point publish information that would throw vital light to the details of the Greek predicament.

    I never could have imagined that a year and a half after joining I would find myself talking to a man who claimed to possess important information about my country’s most explosive economic/political scandal and that he would ask my assistance to disseminate this information further.

    On Monday the 26th of June 2012 I saw that Mark had made several attempts to contact me the previous day via e-mail and text message:

    He explained that Anonymous had submitted to him important documents about Greece. He said he had spoken to WikiLeaks but they were too busy to do anything about it and he was trying to find ways to distribute them himself. He asked if I could take a look and see if I could help him. I was so surprised at all this. He knew I lived for decades in the UK, I was a wife and a mother whose life’s activity was strictly evolving around my domestic and family responsibilities.  I had no professional connection to publishing. But, of course I thought I would help him, thinking, maybe something needs translation into Greek etc. He asked me whether I had any contacts in Greece, any media, journalists etc, he mentioned a few German media that may be interested. I agreed to take a look at the documents and see if I could help. Soon I had the files by e-mail and he had also created a directory in the forum’s server under my name with the documents in it.

    I took a look and was simply gobsmacked. The documents related to a scandal that was raging in Greece involving an ex-defence Minister, Akis Tzohatzopoulos, and potential bribes from German Firm Ferrostahl. He has just been convicted to 20 years imprisonment. At the time, he was just under questioning. Mark would not have known that this individual was personally acquainted with members of my family decades back when they were comrades fighting oppression in Greece while they lived in Germany. The very long connection of my parents with the PASOK party, being founding and active members in the past, made me take a keen interest in the events surrounding this scandal and I had been posting a lot of articles in the forum about it. So, when Mark landed this on my lap I was unable to see it in any other light apart from an opportunity to do some good despite me being entirely ill qualified.

    I asked my mum to come over and translate some of the docs from German, I did further research on line to try and understand what the documents were saying. I spoke to Mark about potential contacts (after all I do not live in a Greek social vacuum despite living away from my country). I skimmed through the few Greek political magazines trying to see which journalist might be appropriate to contact and told Mark some information about my family past and connections who I had no reason to share before. He asked me if I knew were this information had come from. I said of course no, how on Earth would I know? Neither did I ever enquire or even wonder how he got this information in the first place.

    My on line research soon indicated that the very documents were already in the public domain and had been so for several hours before Mark’s initial efforts to contact me. I communicated this information to him and thanked him for his efforts, thinking it was one more chapter of learning for me in this journey.

    But since I left the forum under the circumstances that I did, I saw his anti-WikiLeaks turn further develop. Watching the last 12 months how he has used the Twitter account, the forum posts, the WikiLeaks Facebook pages under his control to spread misinformation and launch attacks on WikiLeaks, Julian Assange and their supporters, I started questioning his motivation behind passing these documents to me.

    Then I saw that he was co-operating with Siggy in several posts at the forum, presenting ‘facts’. I noticed that Mark  was supportive of Siggi even when the latter was telling the world through various interviews in the Media that he had been a willing paid FBI informer & collaborator against WL. I also read twitter conversations between forum/Siggi that seemed staged exchanges, a pathetic effort to use the Socratic Method of ‘revealing the truth’ through questions and answers, to spread misinformation or bring attention to themselves, building each other up as credible insiders ready to pass judgement to WL.

    At the same time Siggy was putting in paste bin alleged conversations he had with Sabu, indicating for the first time that Sabu was the source of ‘The Syria Files’. I have no idea if any of such claim was truthful, I was more interested at the spin that he was giving it. It reminded me of Mark’s reaction regarding the release of the Syria Files in July 2012 and his preposterous claim that JA was ‘an Agent of the West’. Siggy’s spin appeared to me to be trying to put a little jicksaw piece in place, in such a story’s narrative. Had Siggy already shared with Mark in July 2012 his version of the origin of the files? ie that since Sabu was working for the FBI and was their tool, by inference so was WikiLeaks. To my mind this narrative appeared extremely suspect, especially considering that if Sabu was the ‘push’ part of the FBI entrapment, Siggi was by his own admission, its corresponding ‘pull’ part. This is a very serious matter and considering that people are currently in jail facing lengthy sentences, one should tread carefully presenting any assertions or speculating in public ideas to which they have absolutely no proof of, as is in my case here in this blog post. I have no proof of nothing and I am speculating, clutching on thin air.

    But all this imaginative thinking that has developed in my mind, the last 12 months, watching events unfolding at the WLForum, a place set up by Mark and Siggi together, forced me to re-think Mark’s offer of these ‘Anonymous documents’. Was he genuine? Was it just an attempt to ‘share a secret’ and forge loyalty with someone who could be useful later? Anyway what business did he have doubling in ‘WikiLeaks work’ and involving someone as ill qualified in the matter as myself. Maybe this sort of ‘leak’ is commonplace among certain circles…certainly not in mine. He knew that.

    My uneasiness in the matter increased, the more I took an outsider’s perspective. I have struggled whether I should put these thoughts and events on paper and publish them, but my goodness, hasn’t he proved again and again that his anti-WikiLeaks stand is not just a personal fall-out but that he has an agenda, that he is pursuing. Alternatively, that he allows himself and the platforms he has created and still runs to become tools in this extraordinary game against WL by people and interests that act covertly. Hasn’t he also proved without doubt that he uses people to achieve his goal and that he has been a very effective manipulator. To people who he has worked closely with at the forum, ex mods and admins, he has proved all that.

    I believe in future many a Marketing textbook will use ‘The WikiLeaks brand’ as a case study. Of course you don’t have to be an academic in the field to appreciate that Google/Twitter/Facebook are flooded with the word, images and links all creating a carpet of opportunity to make money through advertising or linking one’s commercial wagon to the wikiLeaks star to improve Google Ranking and yield a higher rate from advertising revenues.

    It is amazing how internet traffic flows are manipulated to make money from adverts. For example one can only speculate how much money can eventually be made by ‘milking’ the WikiLeaks popular brand via, let’s say their Facebook Page, which was ‘liked’ at the time of the above conversation by 1.5 million people. It must generate quite a lot of traffic. This page could then point (through it’s own ‘Liked’ List) to other pages or introduce other related WikiLeaks Pages, actively asking people to ‘Like’ them, then these secondary WikiLeaks Pages can link to other websites, generating traffic for them. Some of this traffic eventually leads to income from paid advertising. What a complicated thread of events.

    But before I get lost in pure speculation any further, let’s go back to the topic. 🙂

    Mark has recently made public that he was managing the WL FB page over a period of a year first jointly with another (Siggi) then alone. We also know that a number of WikiLeaks FB pages appeared in 2010/2011/2012 some of them were linked to the Main WikiLeaks page. Websites wikileaks-forum.com and support-julian-assange.com owned by Mark were linked to these secondary WikiLeaks related pages, that were also managed by forum ‘staff’ who added relevant content and linked to the forum/sja sites.     I helped manage three of the above for varied durations. The Global Intelligence Files was my main one and I was assisting Isis with Cablegate and Jerri with one of the FoWL pages. My involvement stopped on the 22/08/2012 when I left the forum in protest for Mark’s 180 degrees turn into an anti-WL/JA ‘supporter’. Not only his assertions that JA was ‘an Agent of the West assisting the Muslim Brotherhood establish M.E. regimes’ were preposterous but the pressure he applied on me to agree with his mad views was intolerable to me and I had to leave. But still, only but a few weeks earlier he was WL’s most ardent supporter and under his forum umbrella and FB pages, I enjoyed seeing the ‘Likes’ grow by hundreds then thousands and this is as far as my understanding went. I never engaged in conversation with people who ‘liked’ or commented and left the spammers well alone. After all, I could have been accused of censorship, discrediting WL!:

    A matter of Authenticity

    We read here that in the past WikiLeaks related Facebook pages have seen a bit of a bumpy journey, relating to whether they are authentic or not.

    The above mentioned pages have all the appearance of authenticity. The amazing logos, relevant content regularly updated, a list of relevant recommended ‘Likes’. In some cases they even state to be an ‘Official Facebook Page’ of the organisation they are dedicated to.

    Official Facebook Page– The Sunshine Press (Wikileaks), is an international non-profit organization funded by: Human Rights Campaigners Investigative Journalists Technologists Lawyers The general public http://www.sunshinepress.org

    But I know that this is not so, this is certainly not an authentic page in as far as it is not an Official page for Sunshine press. It is controlled by Mark and it has absolutely nothing to do with anyone else. You can see for yourself here: http://archive.is/5j912 that most posts relate to the wikileaks-forum.com

    In fact most of the pages above were set up in the same manner till at some point in Spring 2012 the message went round that we should change all of them into ‘Community pages’ which certainly happened.

    Still, even as Community pages they are fraudulent as they are not WikiLeaks supportive pages, the only one they support is Mark and his forum. You do not have to go further than the very first page of the links above, the very first posts there, to see clearly of what I am talking about.
    Furthermore, recent usage of these pages include disseminating false, smearing information against WikiLeaks, Julian Assange and their supporters. In this manner, the pages have become means of cyber-bullying.

    So, I conclude: The Facebook Pages that are controlled by Mark are not authentic, they are not supportive, not authorised and the only reason they exist is to channel Internet Traffic to the websites http://www.wikileaks-forum.com and the http://www.support-julian-assange.com

    How do you describe such tactics other than fraudulent? and what is the motivation for running and staffing such Facebook pages?

  • No mention in the ‘Facts about the Forum’ of the fake Wikileaks-forum.com donation button

    Manufacturing a credible story is vital for the credibility of its protagonists, if they intend to have a voice that is heard and noted.  A voice that influences and directs others’ opinions, a voice that becomes a ‘credible source’ in the court of public opinion, even more important, a voice of influence, in the small community of WikiLeaks international supporters. There was never a better opportunity to be selective about the truth if one is privileged enough to be able to write their own history. 🙂

    I believe such an attempt is being made in a post that appeared in the (now) anti-WikiLeaks wikileaks-forum.com website with title ‘Facts about the WikiLeaks Forum’ which I have archived here: archive.is/uF1lS.  The same post also appears at the support-julian-assange.com blog under the heading ‘The History of the WikiLeaks Forum’ which I have archived here: http://archive.is/Gw2mw. Both domain names have been the property of the same person, set up and controlled by Mark for as long as I was a member (18 months) of which a moderator (91/2 months).

    Here is a quote from the section of this post  titled ‘Financing’

    Since WikiLeaks was enduring financial problems due to the banking blockade, sufficient funds were unavailable to help support the forum’s financial needs so it had to be privately financed. This occured on 2nd March 2012*. At this point in time, the forum was listed as an “ Endorsed WikiLeaks Support Site“ on the Wikileaks Supporters Page.

    But no mention is made of the Donation button inserted at the forum in 2012 or the individual donations made by members to the owner of the forum.

    A few days before, Mark had shared with the rest of the mods/admins at the staff room that he had been financing the forum out of his own pocket and he had asked for ideas on how to raise finance. No one raised any objection for this and a Donation button was an obvious choice, although not the only one put forward at the time.

    Privately, as soon as I had started having direct conversations with Mark in FB , I understood from what he was saying that his resources were limited and so I had made an offer to cover costs for a year’s hosting back at the end of 2011. He graciously declined at the time as you can see from our conversation here:

      As it is obvious from the conversation I was utterly convinced that there was need for finance as I was utterly convinced for his noble intentions as far as supporting WikiLeaks was concerned, despite any personal weaknesses he may have. As long as he carried the responsibility alone for the forum, I felt at the time, he deserved my help and support. But, many things have changed in my mind since then.

      His utter change towards WikiLeaks became evident to me in the period of late June/July/August 2012, When he not only withdrew his support but actively used the tools he had available to start undermine and do harm. It was this change alone that made me take the decision to withdraw my help by leaving his team and the forum behind. I no longer wished to legitimise him or be part of his efforts to undermine WL and bring confusion and strife among the community. He had already started attacking publicly good supporters via the WLForum Twitter account.

      But, going back to the story, why does the ‘Facts about the Forum’ or ‘The History of the WikiLeaks Forum’ make no mention of the ‘Donate’ button and any funds that were raised for the forum’s new Hosting? It is hardly a secret anyway. Several mods/admins added the request to donate in their forum signatures as I also did at the time.
      Furthermore, Mark did start a thread at the forum acknowledging each donation by mentioning the amount but keeping the donor anonymous. I re-call two entries had been made in that thread by the time that I left the forum. One of those donations ($100) was mine made on the 8th of June 2012.

      We have seen again and again in this journey efforts by people and interest groups to manufacture history. Let’s keep asking why, what is the purpose of omitting facts whilst emphasising others. What is the truth ? one thing is clear in my mind: there are several people who wish to ‘own it’.     There have been discussions in Twitter among WikiLeaks supporters over the state of affairs at the wikileaks-forum.com. Over the last 12 months many aspects have been highlighted that confirm that wikileaks-forum.com is not a supportive website, on the contrary, it’s objective is to undermine WikiLeaks and its supporters. Apart from this fact there is also the issue that the owner of the forum as well as some of the Admins exhibit hypocritical behaviour.

    I am drawing people’s attention to the data entries on the 21st of October 2012, when the forum’s twitter account is stated to have 1381 followers and then the next entry dated 8th of February 2013 when the followers are shown to have been increased by 2338 to 3719 in the course of three months and 10 days. On the 6th of March 2013, a month later, the number of followers has reduced by 761 to 2958 followers. The next date to highlight is the 8th and the 27th of April 2013 another 548 followers disappeared. From then onwards a steady increase is exhibited which takes us to the most recent record of 2667 followers.

    Such irregular jumps in numbers of followers indicate that followers have been purchased to boost numbers to give the appearance of a strong following and give the twitter account gravitas.

    The forum’s Twitter audit (via www. twitteraudit.com) done today archived here: http://archive.is/AIKDB comes up with a score of 56% for the current level of followers i.e., 1511 Real and 1164 Fake followers. In Fact the 56% includes a substantial ‘not sure’ result that indicates inactive or fake followers.

    So the question is loud and clear. Purchasing followers contravenes Twitter’s Terms of Service. Did the owners and administrators of the wikileaks-forum twitter account purchase fake followers?

  • Can reputation depend on nationality at the fake Wikileaks Forum (wikileaks-forum.com) ?

    I was already a moderator at the forum for about 6 months when in April 2012 the owner approached me ‘would I like to assist in a forum project co-ordinating translations of relevant WikiLeaks articles’. He suggested it would be good for the forum and I agreed. When he said he was going to promote it via the WL Facebook page (to which at the time he had access to) I knew the forum would be inundated with volunteers.  He set up a dedicated board called Translator’s lounge and explained to me how to proceed technically. He added that I would be joined in this project by his close friend, already an Administrator at the forum who was a certified translator for the Croatian language. She was busy at the time setting up her own website for professional translating and this forum project could potentially help her identify good translators for her own business. As soon as her work as a translator for the German police was over, she would join me co-ordinating and advising. I felt re-assured that a professional translator would be joining me as I had no experience in this field but I was surprised at how the project could potentially bring commercial benefit for his friend. [Jumping six months forward from that point and well after I had left the forum in protest for his anti-WikiLeaks turn, I discovered that the domain name for his friend’s business was actually registered in his name, at which point both eyebrows were raised.] I proceeded in my role as Language Co-ordinator and soon enough Mark and I we were so busy that were joined by other mods too. It was a pleasure for me to finally have the freedom to speak with members/translators. Normally we were discouraged in communicating so as not to expose the forum and WikiLeaks to criticism or give the impression that our personal opinions were the opinions of WL. So we were told by Mark. This time it was ok to talk and I enjoyed it. I had worked in Customer Service previously and I felt in my element, helping people with how to post their translations etc. We had many people volunteering enthusiastically and some produced a great number of translations. It was so touching to see people responding to what they thought was a WikiLeaks request since it came from the WikiLeaks Facebook page. I often found myself having to explain that ‘no, the forum is not owned or managed by WL’.

    At the end of April I came across something shocking:

    I have noticed something that rings alarm bells, I would really apreciate some assistance: Please look the details for new member m*****. This member has joined recently, as a Board Translator and has just completed and posted a wonderful translation of TWT Episode 1 in Serbian Latin. Please observe below : “Reputation -1”, how can this happen? I haven’t the faintest idea but I can imagine what can someone feel who has just done hours of unpaid work to be viewing their “Reputation” as -1.
    Please help me understand how something like this can even technically be possible, since we do not give members the opportunity to reduce someone’s “reputation” how could it happen and how can it be put right. Many many thanks.

    Neither Mark nor any other Administrator looked into the matter or commented further. Since the member’s reputation ( an option that members had to show their appreciation of a post by pressing on a ‘reputation’ button below the posters name) could never been reduced at that time by another member, the only possibility was that it had been reduced by an Administrator. At that moment it was obvious to me that being a Serbian at the forum carried the risk of being discriminated against. Who did this was never established but the total lack of interest on behalf of the owner to investigate the issue made me strongly suspect it must have been someone close to him, as he never hesitated in throwing someone out of the forum before.

    I had acted quickly and the forum’s technical adviser had also adjusted the reputation levels the same day, so I said a little prayer that the translator in question never saw what had happened. He/she continued with their work, for which I was very grateful and I carried on.

    And this is how easy it was for people, misusing their power to satisfy their ego, discriminated against someone at will. That this happened in a forum containing the name of WikiLeaks in its domain name was a source of great embarrassment to me and made me more aware of the unsuitability of the person who run the show, to whose tune we all danced.

    Update Monday 14th of October 2013:

    Inserted domain name registration record for the translation website for Mark’s Admin friend who was to help me with co-ordinating the Volunteer Translation Project at the forum.  Mark’s name appears as the domain name owner. This record is heavily redacted by me for privacy reasons. I would also like to mention that this domain name registration enquiry was done on 20th of October 2012 and that now the same enquiry shows that the domain name is registered to his friend’s name, no longer his own.

  • Reality versus fiction, art as a tool to bully and discredit (courtesy of the fake wikileaks forum) – part 2

    Who would have thought that even after more than a year since I left the wikileaks-forum.com as a member (greekemmy) and as a mod (Green) due to the owner turning anti-WikiLeaks, I would still be an interest to him and his team to bully and intimidate.

    The images below speak volumes of the two different ‘artists’ conflicting objectives.

    In the first image, the artist is me :-). It is a picture I took of myself outside UK’s Supreme Court after handing out leaflets in support of WikiLeaks / Julian Assange. I tweeted it on the 13th of June 2012 via @greekemmy.

    The message in the poster “I am not afraid to make up my own mind” was a campaign message organised by a small group of individuals momentarily under the anarchically self proclaimed banner of UKFoWL (UK Friends of WikiLeaks). The beautiful poster was designed by a wonderful Somerset Bean whose graphic designs delight many an activist of Human Rights causes including Freedom of Information fighters and war resisters, truth tellers and whistleblowers, courageous publishers and victims of unlawful imprisonment.  The solidarity campaign was designed to ‘stand up and be counted’ in support of WikiLeaks and Julian Assange in their legal and political troubles. The message promotes one to look at the facts of the case, make their own mind about it. If he/she wants to show their support they then take a picture of themselves with the poster and put it on line, in a website as well as sharing it in social media.

    A beautiful initiative I thought at the time, encouraging independent thought, research of facts and showing solidarity. It was also creating a community of individuals unafraid to make a stand for a commonly shared cause, the support of WikiLeaks the publishers and their much persecuted Editor Julian Assange. Let’s remember that time, when the Supreme Court had passed a judgement on the 30th of May of that year that the European Arrest Warrant was valid and therefore Extradition should go ahead but left a window of opportunity to examine the possibility of an Appeal. On the 13th of June we were still expecting the judgment regarding a request to re-open his appeal. It was this decision to reject the re-opening of the appeal and the authorities’ actions during the days immediately after, that led Julian Assange seek refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy. A early arrest that was planned by the police would have disallowed further steps been taken to protect his Human Rights and his ability to carry out his work.

    This picture therefore is not just any odd photo of myself, it is a political act, made consciously at a time when the controversy over JA’s Court appearances in the UK was running high and his after court statements were making the headlines. It was also the time when people often hid their face behind a mask identifying themselves with Anonymous or in genuine fear of being identified by an employer or be caught in the tide of established interests reacting against the radical publishing work of WikiLeaks. I had expected others to join the leafletting, after all, several had actively participated on line in formulating the flyer’s content, but on the actual day others were busy and I found myself with the entire Supreme Court entrance to myself. It was a wonderful experience interacting with the various passers by especially as it was a Wednesday morning and in the area Members of Parliament and their aides where flocking in for the 12 o’clock Prime Minister’s Question Time. Furthermore, being a place of the Law, all kinds of interesting costumed people paraded in wigs and cloaks and frilly shirts enough to entertain any period drama audience that enjoy neo-gothic architecture backgrounds.  So, Lo and behold amongst the colourful and friendly tourists, the working clerks, silent clogs of authority, the road sweepers, you came across some actors of power that could not resist sniffing about my modest leaflets searching for their area of interest…politics and the law, keen to drum down their opinions. I also re-call a security incident, a potential bomb on Great George Street and the arrival of police, cording off the Supreme Court area as well as Police vehicles blocking the roads to stop traffic around Parliament Square and evacuating people away from the area. What strong beautiful memories this photo brings to my mind.

    The artist in the second image is a persona cloaked in international mystery going by the twitter name (currently) of Saming Towden @T23Tm23 (Manning Snowden for those who need to be told). You will find his tweet archived here: archive.is/wZFS3 (https://twitter.com/T23Tm23/status/383281605055238144) . Many are his names, many are his talents, and he will be thrilled that finally he has my full attention albeit for about the duration of writing this post. In the second image, he has taken great trouble to alter the message on my poster to say the exact opposite of the true message. Very telling as this is the entire purpose of his existence: to pretend to be one thing when, in fact, he is another. As a true creature of the place he sprang up from: (The post-“Official” wikileaks-forum) he pretends to support WikiLeaks but in fact he undermines them. His entire purpose to subvert by lying, just as he does with my image. He manufactures a lie but done so expertly, only people ‘in the know’ understand it as such. If he is to point someone to his lie and say “Look at her, what on Earth is she saying… how ridiculous!” the passer by may readily agree, as a glance would be all that it takes to determine the hilarity of the image. So, not only he has manufactured a believable lie by twisting the truth just enough to keep the story credible, he also has made it a product, by sharing it and pointing at it and laughing at it and asking others to laugh at it and share it and point at it. A tool of bullying. People who do not know me, the ninety nine point nine, nine, nine, nine percent of our community, grain of sand that I am, would have no clue about the falsehood that he has created. But this pattern I have seen before. It was readily practiced by the owner of the WLForum. Every mod/admin/member that left the forum whilst under his care, left under a cloud of his creation and I have noticed this pattern was a tool of control for the ones that remained behind. So, his role is to manufacture believable lies, and here, you have an elegant proof of it.

    There is another message that the artist tries to pass, this time to those ‘in the know’. The little pink rabbit is the Avatar of another supporter. Mark has made him to be his arch enemy. The sentence ‘I am afraid to make up my own mind’ that he has manufactured, in this context implies that since I cannot make my own mind up, I am guided by this little pink rabbit that he so much hates 🙂 But this is such an obvious divisive technique I will not bother analysing it, further than to say that there is a community of equals outside the Forum’s owner world of dominance, and it is a far more enjoyable one.

    There is such pleasure to be had when you act freely and trying to do the right thing as far as your ability allows you without being imposed on.

  • State Propaganda against Julian Assange at the BBC ‘By Any Means’ – Updated

    My complaint to the BBC for the programme ‘By Any Means – Episode 3’

    After seeing a WikiLeaks Tweet here:

    I watched the BBC programme on the i-player and was prompted to send them a complaint. It is unacceptable that the TV License Fee that we are paying at a time of general austerity be used to create cheap propaganda drama to hype up cultural bias against Julian Assange of WikiLeaks. Who does the BBC think its audience is? Although ‘By any means Episode 3’ story is about a wealthy corrupt businessman, the script is ‘inspired’ by Julian Assange’s story, drawing obvious parallels between the two people creating a smear against Julian Assange’c character and by inference suggesting that his capture ‘By Any Means’ is acceptable to society. I wrote to the BBC using their online complaints submission system and I received the following reply/summary. I will update this post once I get their official reply to my complaint.

    Complaint Summary: State Propaganda against Julian Assange

    Full Complaint:

    I follow the fate of Julian Assange the Editor of WikiLeaks very closely. He sought refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy in June 2012 and has been granted Political Asylum. The UK government refuses to grand him Safe Passage. Watching ‘By any means, Episode 3’ I am shocked at how the film follows the details of Julian Assange’s story eg Colombian Embassy featured in the film is in reality in the same building as the Ecuadorian Embassy, the MI5 team considers storming the building, but abandons the plan to avoid an international incident, in reality around 50 Metropolitan police officers did storm the building that houses the apartment of the Ecuadorian Embassy and only stopped when witnesses alerted the public who rushed to the scene. Other similarities include the British Asylee giving a ‘press conference’ from the window of the Colombian Embassy drawing a parallel to the two Assange Ecuadorian balcony speeches. The camera surveillance illegally installed in the Colombian Embassy reminds me of the listening devise that was found this June at the Ecuadorian Embassy. I am simply appaulled to watch on BBC a programme funded by my TV licence fee that so blatantly reeks of state propaganda aiming to create cultural bias against Mr Assange, smearing his character. Do you realize the moral responsibility this country and this government and this BBC has for the well being of this man who is held up as a hero by millions of people? I protest at this injustice.

    Thanks for contacting us regarding the BBC One ‘By Any Means’ programme that was broadcast on 6 October.

    We understand you felt the storyline in this episode was too similar regarding Julian Assange’s living arrangements at an embassy which you felt was biased.

    Contemporary drama tends to reflect society as it is, including the tendency to mirror certain situations that have sparked interest and debate in the public arena.

    It must be stressed that the episode in question did feature a character being holed up in the Colombian Embassy, but in the context of the storyline it clearly had nothing to do with Julian Assange as the episode followed the team tracking down a ruthless property developer Phillip Granger, who the team believe may have deliberately burnt a building to the ground, which resulted in a number of people being killed.

    Nevertheless as we’re guided by the feedback we receive I’ve registered your complaint on our audience log. This is a daily report of audience feedback that’s made available to all BBC staff, including members of the BBC Executive Board, the production team for ‘By Any Means’ and other senior managers.
